can we make the same sound using different movement? How much relaxation is needed
to stay engaged? how much repetition clarifies? and how much then,
develops?
Studio showing: a sonic dance performance
December 13, 5pm John Braithwaite Community Centre: Harbourview room
Audiences are invited to experience a sound performance through the medium of dance
Sound is a manifestation of physical presence and this work unfolds at the intersection of movement and sound. The moving ensemble creates a sense of resonance throughout the space using various forms of touch, weight, and vocalization.
Performers will move through the dark to bring the experience of movement close, engaging with those who share the space through their individual perspective. Audiences are encouraged to focus on listening and consider how they are sensing movement with their own body.
The project is a collaborative exploration between North Vancouver Arts & Culture resident artist, Gemma Crowe, and performers Damarise Ste Marie, danielle wensley, and Jami Reimer. The performance aims to transcend traditional boundaries, exploring the intricate relationship between movement and sound.
