In collaboration with All Bodies Dance Project
In 2021 ABDP began It’s Enough (For a Rooftop), a project which features both artists with and without disabilities, dancing on the rooftop of the Sun Wah Centre 新華中心, a vacant parking lot in Chinatown. This project eventually became a series of live performances, an online gallery, and a physical zine.
Through improvisational scores, writing, laughing, drawing, documentation and discussion, the project explores the complex feelings that surface when dancing together in person during a pandemic. The practice holds questions about dance-making that prioritizes community care, individual needs and accessibility. More than anything, “it’s enough” to dance together.
In presenting It’s Enough (For a Rooftop) – through still images (with audio description and a layered soundscape), audio documentation, 360 videos, and excerpts of writing – we share our definition of arts- driven research and practices.
