The Feeling’s Inside
The Feelings Inside is part of an evolving body of work that explores sound as an extension of the body, prioritizing sensation over visual representation. This piece plays the recorded sounds of movement within the wooden structure to create an illusion of contained action. Viewers are invited to engage with the structure, placing their hands on the box to make contact with the source of sound and to sense the movement inside the structure. By localizing sound within the material of the wood, the work reanimates the sensation of movement, offering a tactile and auditory encounter that questions perception, presence, and the ways we embody sound in space.

Subspace 1
Standing beneath the structure, which encircles the head and upper body, the audience may track the sound moving around the outside of the structure. These are recorded movement performances but the effect is as if someone is performing this movement on the structure from the outside in real time as the audience stands inside. The movement I perform for contact microphones: tapping, brushing, and tracing shapes around the structure, is played back through sound exciters fixed around the outside of the structure.
